Our Run History

Fallen 48 Foundation

For the past 13 years our foundation has hosted a run over Memorial Day weekend that honors United States Marine Corps Veterans from the 3rd Battalion 25th Marine Regiment. During their 2005 deployment to western Iraq 3/25 lost 48 brothers, 46 Marines and 2 sailors, the largest single battalion loss since the Vietnam War. These Fallen 48 are the inspiration for the Memorial Day 100 Run, our largest annual event. The run began with 4 men running at least 25 miles each in a relay fashion over Memorial Day weekend in 2009. This incredible act was inspired by an attempt to “interrupt” the activities of the holiday weekend remembering the true meaning of the holiday as they honored those fallen 48 brothers from 3/25. This was such an impactful gesture that more brothers wanted to join each year. Now we have 30 runners, covering 10 miles each, 2-3 at a time while carrying the American flag and Marine Corps flag as well as the Fallen 48 Foundation flag for 24 consecutive hours.
